Social Media Platforms, causing problems for users
The problem turned out to be much larger and also affected social media platforms down (Facebook and Instagram, applications from Meta**), all over the world.
The company confirmed information about the unstable operation of applications.
“We are aware that a technical issue is impacting some users’ ability to access our apps. We are working to get things back up and running as soon as possible and apologize for any inconvenience,” Meta said.
“We are actively working on a solution and are starting to see a return to normal for most people. We expect the situation to return to normal soon,” WhatsApp responded
Social media apps such as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are down amid a widespread Meta outage.
Users are reporting problems with a number of Meta services: Facebook (and Messenger), Instagram and WhatsApp.
This is evidenced by data from the DownDetector service .
At the same time, the number of service error messages reaches tens of thousands.
In particular, users complain about the impossibility of sending a message in WhatsApp. And also about problems with logging into Facebook and Instagram.
The Meta page, which details the status and issues with the company’s business products, has not yet reported any errors.
The Verge also writes about problems with Threads.
DownDetector shows large and sudden spikes in complaints about Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram. Instagram’s DownDetector page, for example, has seen more than 70,000 reports of problems with the platform, indicating that it is a widespread problem. And Facebook has seen more than 100,000 reports,” the publication writes.
Meta did not immediately respond to The Verge’s request for comment.
As Reuters notes , some Facebook and Instagram users began writing to the X social network that they had encountered an error when logging in: messages appeared stating that “something went wrong” and that “Meta is working to fix the error.”
Meta later commented on the failure.
“We understand that a technical issue is impacting some users’ ability to access our apps. We are working to get things back to normal as soon as possible and apologize for the inconvenience,” the company said in a statement on social media platform X.
Mark Zuckerberg previously apologized after Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram went down for nearly six hours in October 2021. During the socal media outage, potentially billions of people were left without access to the social media tools they heavily relied on for communication with friends and family.
